Legendary WWE star costing Gunther major first-time-ever title match at Crown Jewel could happen, says Bill Apter
Gunther has been presented as a top-tier star since making WWE debut and currently holds the World Heavyweight Championship. He could add another feather to his hat at Crown Jewel where he is likely to face Cody Rhodes for a newly introduced title. However, wrestling veteran Bill Apter believes that Goldberg could cost the Austrian star the potential match.
Triple H announced at Bad Blood that Crown Jewel will feature men and women world champions from both brands going up against each other for a newly-introduced Crown Jewel Championship. Following the announcement, the Ring General made his way to the ring and hyped himself up. The champion also took a shot at Goldberg who was present in the audience before he was attacked by Sami Zayn.
While Gunther is slated to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Zayn on RAW, the chances of him losing the title are minimal, and thus a match between him and Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel looks inevitable.
However, Bill Apter believes that the Ring General could suffer a loss at the Saudi Arabia PLE, with Goldberg spoiling the party for him. Here's what the Hall of Fame journalist stated in Sportskeeda Wrestling's review of Bad Blood:
"Maybe Goldberg and his son will show up at Crown Jewel because Gunther is already booked there against Cody Rhodes if they are both world champions.... What’s stopping from Gunther losing with Goldberg being at ringside at Crown Jewel." [29:25 - 29:52]
Triple H also teased a match between Gunther and Goldberg after WWE Bad Blood
Things got heated between the Ring General and Goldberg during WWE Bad Blood. However, Triple H and the security guards took control of the situation and stopped the two from engaging in a physical confrontation.
In the post-Bad Blood press conference, Hunter was asked about a potential match between the Ring General and the Bill. The WWE CCO teased a possible showdown between the two, stating that the legend was not happy with the Austrian star's action at Bad Blood.
Goldberg was last seen in action at Elimination Chamber 2022 where he lost to Roman Reigns. The legendary star is yet to announce his retirement and could return for a final run after what transpired at WWE's recently concluded premium live event in Atlanta, Georgia.
