Legendary WWE star who refused to retire recently believes major moment was 'a great swan song'; rejects shocking return
A legendary WWE star who refused to confirm his retirement rejected the idea of a potential in-ring return. The two-time Hall of Famer is not interested in repeating his last performance inside a WWE ring.
Booker T currently works as a color commentator on NXT. He has not wrestled since his surprise appearance at the 2023 Royal Rumble match, wherein he lasted just 42 seconds. He was eliminated by Gunther after doing his signature Spinaroonie in the middle of the ring.
In an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the WWE legend was asked about potentially appearing in a future Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant once again. However, he turned down the idea saying last year's appearance was "a great swan song."
"You know, I think that spot was a great swan song for me doing it at that time, it was one of those unexpected entries. It was a moment, it's kind of hard to really create those moments, duplicate those kind of moments, replicate that. So I think Rumble for me, I'm not looking to do anymore," Booker said. Booker T's last full match in WWE was against Cody Rhodes on the January 3, 2012 episode of SmackDown. He challenged Rhodes for his Intercontinental Championship in a losing attempt.
Booker T willing to wrestle for WWE in Saudi Arabia
In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet, Booker T was asked about his future in the ring. The two-time Hall of Famer admitted that he's probably never going to retire, while being open to wrestling again in Reality of Wrestling or in Saudi Arabia.
"Well, I'm never gonna retire. I'm definitely gonna get back in the ring at some point in time to do something. But it’s gonna be here, in Reality of Wrestling, or in Saudi (laughs)," Booker said. (H/T chrisvanvliet.com)
Aside from being a commentator on NXT, Booker T also runs his promotion and training school called Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Texas, which has produced talents such as Roxanne Perez. He even has his own podcast called Hall of Fame with co-host Brad Gilmore.
