Legendary WWE Tag Team is breaking up for sure, says Konnan

Tag teams in WWE started to make a mark in the promotion under Triple H's regime when The Usos headlined WrestleMania 39 Night One. Recently, Konnan stated that the legendary duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, aka The New Day, is breaking up soon for sure.

The New Day has made history in WWE as the trio has captured the most number of Tag Team Championships in the Stamford-based promotion. With 12 titles under their name (RAW, SmackDown, & NXT), the team has earned a legendary status in professional wrestling similar to The Dudley Boyz, The Hardy Boyz, and The Usos.

Unfortunately, things are starting to look weak between Kingston and Woods on Monday Night RAW. Speaking on Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan addressed their ongoing storyline with The Final Testament and believes The New Day is breaking up for sure.

"I don't know if you noticed, you know, [Kofi] Kingston kept kind of talking over [Xavier] Woods. They're breaking up for sure... looks like they're breaking up. [Kingston might end up with The Final Testament] Maybe... and then they'll come back together at the end," Konnan said. [From 23:44 to 24:12]

He also added that Kingston could turn heel and reunite with Woods when the storyline ends.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods had a short run on WWE NXT without Big E

In 2020, Big E was separated from The New Day as the star was bound to have a singles run in the promotion. E went on to hold the Intercontinental Championship, Money in the Bank briefcase, and the WWE Championship in a span of one year.

Meanwhile, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods added more Tag Team Champions under their belt as The New Day. Sadly, the duo hasn't been able to conquer the tag team division since Big E was forced to be sidelined after a horrific neck injury.

By the end of 2022, Kingston and Woods went back to the developmental brand and had a short run on NXT. The legendary duo captured the NXT Tag Team Championships from Pretty Deadly at NXT Deadline 2022.

The two were often featured on segments as champions and faced new teams in the division. In 2023, they dropped the titles to Gallus, which ended their run on WWE NXT.
