Legends would have refused to work with Seth Rollins, former WWE star says
Seth Rollins has been one of WWE's most prominent stars since debuting on the main roster in 2012. According to veteran wrestler Stevie Richards, legends would likely have refused to work with the RAW star in the late 1990s.
Rollins has defeated dozens of opponents over the years with his Stomp finisher. However, in recent weeks, the former WWE Champion has struggled to keep Bronson Reed down after hitting his rival with the move. On October 28, the Australian recovered within 25 seconds after receiving a Stomp on a car hood on RAW.
Richards said on The Stevie Richards Show that Attitude Era wrestlers would not have agreed to take Rollins' finish due to its lack of credibility. In 2024, he thinks WWE stars are unlikely to say anything because of Rollins' good relationship with head of creative Triple H:
"He's politically favored," Richards stated. "He's Triple H's boy, so I don't know if he could have a little creative liberty, pal, as Vince [McMahon] would say, that people aren't gonna step up and say, 'I can't sell that.' But I guarantee you during the [Steve] Austin, The Rock, 'Taker [Undertaker] days, they'd be like, 'I don't wanna work with him. I'm not selling that finish.'" [10:16 – 10:36]
Richards also criticized Rollins' style of punches in the early stages of the parking lot brawl with Reed.
How Stevie Richards would have booked himself against Seth Rollins
In 2008, Stevie Richards left WWE after nine years with the company. He is best remembered for leading the villainous Right to Censor faction in 2000 and 2001.
If he still wrestled for WWE today, Richards thinks it would hurt his reputation to lose to a single Stomp from Seth Rollins:
"You pr*stituted and pretty much sacrificed your finish, which was even more devastating on a car hood with you above your opponent. So if it was me looking at this as a worker, you better hit me with five of these to pin me, which further pr*stitutes your finish more." [9:34 – 9:54]
On November 2, Rollins defeated Bronson Reed at Crown Jewel after hitting him with several Stomps.
