Length of Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship reign predicted by ex-WWE employee; it's not long
Gunther defeated Damian Priest to capture the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam. However, a former WWE employee thinks The Ring General could soon drop the title.
The Ring General had a historic Intercontinental Championship reign that lasted 666 days. While he revealed his intention to have an even better run as a World Heavyweight Champion in his promo last night on RAW, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci thinks that might not happen. Instead, he believes the 36-year-old might lose the title after only three months.
On Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word, Carlucci, who spent over 30 years in the Stamford-based company, pointed out that the World Heavyweight Championship should be around Drew McIntyre's waist. He claimed that should happen sooner than later:
"That title needs to be around Drew. And I hope it's sooner than later. But you could be right, he could have it for three months," he said. [6:56 - 7:03]
Some WWE stars might not want to work with Gunther, says Jonathan Coachman
Tommy Carlucci's co-host, WWE veteran Jonathan Coachman, also discussed Gunther's future as World Heavyweight Champion. He claimed RAW ratings would struggle if The Ring General remained champion until WrestleMania.
Meanwhile, the former Interim RAW General Manager stated that some superstars might not want to work with Gunther as long as the latter holds the World Heavyweight Championship:
"Tommy, think about this. If you're Randy and they're calling Randy today and they're saying, 'Hey Randy, you're gonna work a program with Gunther and he's gonna stay the champion,' how creative is that gonna be? So Randy is not gonna win for the next three months? 'Hey Seth,' 'Hey Drew,' 'Hey, CM Punk,' 'Hey Damian Priest,' are any of them wanna gonna do that and lose for two or three months? I don't care if it's a disqualification or not, they're not gonna do that," he said. [7:03 - 7:28]
Randy Orton confronted Gunther last night on RAW and challenged him to a title match at Bash in Berlin. It would be interesting to see if The Viper could end The Ring General's title reign before the end of the month.
