WWE News: Linda McMahon questioned about John Cena's marriage proposal to Nikki Bella in Congress

Linda McMahon was faced with an unusual question

What’s the story?

Former WWE CEO and President Linda McMahon was asked about John Cena’s proposal to Nikki Bella in a Congress session by United States Congressman Rod Blum.

In case you didn’t know...

Linda McMahon was the former CEO and President of the WWE and now serves as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration in the United States Government under the administration of President Donald J. Trump.

She left WWE in 2009 to pursue her political aspirations.

Linda ran for a seat in the United States senate in 2010 and 2012, being a Republican nominee, but was unsuccessful on both attempts. The McMahon family has a good relationship with President Donald Trump, having donated millions of dollars to the Trump foundation.

On December 7th, 2016, Donald Trump announced Linda’s nomination to the Small Business Administration post, and her post was confirmed on February 14th, 2017.

The heart of the matter

In the Congress session, Linda seemed perplexed as Congressman Rod Blum asked her about the WrestleMania 33 proposal by John Cena to Nikki Bella. The video of the incident can be seen below:

Blum jokingly brushed off the question before concluding. Linda responded with a simple “You’d have to ask him” after Blum told Linda that she’s under oath.

What’s next?

Linda McMahon will continue her time as the Administrator for the Small Business Administration (SBA) for the next 4 years, and if Donald Trump runs for President once again in 2020 and wins, she may retain her position.

Either way, a WWE return is clearly not on the cards for her in the near future, although it wouldn’t be surprising to see her make appearances in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Author’s take

Rod Blum was just joking around with Linda, although she didn’t seem to happy about it.

Regardless, it was all in good humour, and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It’s good to see that even on such a huge political stage, people love to joke around about something like pro-wrestling, proving that it is one of the ultimate distractions from reality.
