Lionel Messi brand files lawsuit against top WWE star's product
His football career might be coming closer to its end, but Lionel Messi continues to expand his reach outside the sport, recently getting into a legal tussle with WWE Superstar Logan Paul. Lionel Messi has been enjoying life since moving to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States and recently launched a new energy drink, Más+ by Messi.
The drink's packaging instantly drew comparisons to Logan Paul and KSI's Prime. The duo publicly pointed out the evident similarities in a presentation.
Mark Anthony International distributes Messi's new brand and is fighting against the claims. On October 8th, the distributor filed a lawsuit against Prime Hydration, alleging that Logan Paul and KSI's company was being "anti-competitive."
Mark Anthony revealed, via Dexerto, that Prime demanded Más+ by Messi's design be changed when the drink was first launched. The lawsuit stressed no confusion regarding brand associations, as the consumers could clearly differentiate between two massive personalities, Logan Paul and Lionel Messi.
Anthony also highlighted Logan Paul's contentious past and multiple controversies in the lawsuit while stating why Prime and Más+ by Messi were distinct entities from the public's perspective.
"Because of these controversies and other public stunts, the public understands who Logan Paul is, and it can easily distinguish him and his business partners from Mr. Messi,' an excerpt from the lawsuit noted.
Logan Paul has not wrestled since WWE SummerSlam
As expected, Logan Paul has stayed true to his part-time status as a professional wrestler and has not been seen in a wrestling ring for a while.
The last time Paul was on WWE TV, he was the United States Champion, embroiled in a pretty entertaining feud with LA Knight. The Maverick dropped the title to Knight at SummerSlam and has since focused on other ventures outside the squared circle.
During his hiatus, Logan Paul has been beefing with Kevin Nash, and their back-and-forth has become a major talking point among fans. From the wrestling front, there aren't many updates on when the social media star will be seen again, but it was noted exclusively that the 29-year-old could be in line to face a WWE legend in a dream showdown.
