Liv Morgan defeats 27-year-old star in first-time-ever match after SmackDown goes off the air
Women's World Champion Liv Morgan has been a staple of SmackDown dark matches in recent times - whether it's putting her Women's World Championship on the line or teaming up with 'Dirty' Dominik Mysterio. After SmackDown went off the air, Moragain retained her title against a big-up-and-coming name.
That name is none other than the Irish superstar Lyra Valkyria. While some fans might recognize her from being called up to the main roster this year and her recent feud with Pure Fusion Collective, the 27-year-old star has been making her name for a while now. She was the one to dethrone Becky Lynch to become NXT Women's Champion and she also reached the Queen of the Ring finals before losing respectably to the dominant Nia Jax.
In a first-time-ever match, Lyra Valkyria was defeated by Liv Morgan after SmackDown went off the air.
Check out a clip from the match below:
This was a standard dark match that happened after SmackDown and it's common for champions to retain, with the heels normally cheating to win.
Either way, Lyra Valkyria will get her shot in the future at some point - whether it's against Liv Morgan for the Women's World Title or the WWE Women's Championship currently held by Nia Jax.
As for Morgan, her reign could come to an end in just a few weeks at Bad Blood 2024 when she defends the title against her arch nemesis Rhea Ripley.
