Liv Morgan details personal battle with imposter syndrome
Liv Morgan is having a historic year after becoming the inaugural WWE Women's Crown Jewel Champion while just over five months into her second reign as Women's World Champion. One could argue she won her feud with Rhea Ripley as she retained at SummerSlam and won the heart of Dominik Mysterio. Liv is now opening up on how she really felt backstage while at the top.
The Miracle Kid is heading into WrestleMania 41 season as a key member of The Judgment Day, with Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio extra close by. While Liv is a widely-praised superstar of the modern era, and generally viewed as a fan-favorite heel, she admitted in the past how she hadn't always felt wanted and has dealt with imposter syndrome.
Morgan appeared on The Pat McAfee Show this week and was asked about how she got into her current championship mindset. The 30-year-old recalled returning from her 2023 injury, and how that time off helped her in a major way.
"Yeah, I feel like, my whole career, up until after my injury... I didn't come from entertainment, I don't have a wrestling family, I'm not a Division One athlete... I think I almost had like imposter syndrome for a very long time, not feeling like I deserve to be here, or that I earned [the right] to be here, but I love it so much. I grew up a WWE fan since I was 5-years-old, it's all I've ever wanted to do, but I think I struggled for a long time, just feeling like I don't fit the bill," Liv Morgan said. [From 9:19 to 9:46]
She continued:
"It wasn't until I had my time off during my injury that I got to just really sit with myself for the first time in the last ten years of my life. I've been with WWE since I was 20-years-old, and so, to just have no schedule, and to just really sit with myself, I feel like it did wonders for my mental health, my confidence, and so when I came back, I just felt so different, and I just knew I was ready now." [From 9:47 to 10:12]
Liv's first Women's World Championship reign went for ninety-seven days. She became champion by cashing in on Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank 2022 but was later dethroned by Charlotte Flair on SmackDown.
Liv Morgan set for WWE Survivor Series angle on RAW
WWE is set to present its 38th annual Survivor Series Premium Live Event in less than three weeks. The big event will take place on Saturday, November 30 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, featuring two main roster WarGames matches for the third straight year.
Next week's loaded RAW episode was previously taped. The show is set to be headlined with a women's division face-off. One side comprises Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae, while the other side includes IYO SKY, Rhea Ripley, Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, and Naomi. It's believed these two teams will be the five-on-five lineups for the Women's WarGames Match.
Women's WarGames in 2022 saw Belair, Asuka, Mia Yim, Alexa Bliss, and Becky Lynch defeat SKY, Ripley, Nikki Cross, Dakota Kai, and Bayley. WarGames opened Survivor Series 2023 with Belair, Lynch, Shotzi, and Charlotte Flair beating Bayley, Asuka, SKY, and Kairi Sane.
