Logan Paul primed to beat 36-year-old icon; possible reason for fight revealed
Former United States Champion Logan Paul might be set to face a 36-year-old icon soon. Paul is not just a WWE Superstar, but also a pro boxer with a record of 1-1, and his opponent could be Conor McGregor.
The Maverick fooled some members of the WWE Universe, telling them that he had retired after becoming a father. However, he confirmed his transfer from SmackDown to RAW ahead of the red brand's debut on Netflix.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Cheap Heat podcast, WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg discussed Paul's potential match against McGregor. Rosenberg wants to see it, favoring the WWE Superstar over the two-division UFC Champ. He also explained why the bout won't be hard to make.
"He is supposedly fighting Conor McGregor, which is an easy fight for them to get done because that's just TKO right there. It's UFC-WWE. I mean, I guess I'd be somewhat interested. I'd like to see Logan Paul beat Conor McGregor. I think I'd enjoy that," Rosenberg said. [6:41 - 7:00]
TKO, under Endeavor, owns both WWE and UFC, so a crossover event is certainly possible. Logan Paul is under contract with WWE, while Conor McGregor still has a deal with the UFC despite some legal trouble he was in this year.
While it's unclear what kind of match the two will have, the neutral choice is a boxing bout. Paul is 1-1 as a professional, with a win over Dillon Danis, a McGregor teammate, and YouTuber KSI.
On the other hand, The Notorious is 0-1, losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his only pro boxing fight. Paul also fought "Money" Mayweather in an exhibition match.
Gunther sends warning to Logan Paul ahead of WWE RAW's Netflix debut
During the WWE RAW on Netflix Kickoff event on Wednesday, Logan Paul expressed his desire to become a world champion one day. Gunther, who was also at the show, delivered a warning to The Maverick and his plans.
"If Logan Paul thinks he can walk in here and take this away from me, if he ever makes it to the top of the line to challenge me for the World Heavyweight Championship, it will be my duty and my pleasure to slap that stupid smirk out of his face," Gunther said. [H/T Fightful]
The Ring General is currently waiting for his next challenger after beating Damian Priest and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
