Logan Paul's PRIME facing major lawsuit prior to title defense at WWE SummerSlam

In November 2023, Logan Paul defeated WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio to become the United States Champion of World Wrestling Entertainment. Since then, he has defended the belt twice. This was part of the motivation LA Knight had when he issued a challenge to The Maverick. Though at first, the latter would not budge, the bout was ultimately made official for WWE SummerSlam.

Meanwhile, The New York Times has reported that the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee has filed a lawsuit against Prime, alleging that they use official words related to the Olympics without permission. These include "Olympic," "Going for Gold," and "Team USA."

This is specifically about a Prime flavor sponsored by Olympic Gold Medalist and basketball player Kevin Durant, whose qualifications are highlighted by the Olympic terms on the label. The U.S. Olympic Committee is accusing Prime of trademark infringement and asking for all of the profits made from this particular drink, among other additional damages worth millions.

The Olympic Committee has a deal with the Coca-Cola Corporation. The latter paid a large amount of money for exclusive rights to use the Olympic branding. As a result, Prime's use of these brandings will adversely affect their deal. It could also affect any future Olympic branding partnerships.

Will LA Knight bring the United States Championship home to WWE SmackDown?

Logan Paul's part-time status has largely affected the mid-card scene on SmackDown, unlike its counterpart on Monday nights. On RAW, Sami Zayn continues to produce exceptional matches and notable rivalries.

Once Paul's issues with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton were put to rest at WrestleMania XL, he disappeared, only to return and challenge Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes for the latter's belt. The American Nightmare retained in their first-ever match in Saudi Arabia in May.

After deflecting LA Knight's challenge on numerous occasions, Logan Paul finally showed up on SmackDown last Friday night and signed the contract for a title defense at SummerSlam. On SmackDown LowDown afterward, The Megastar addressed his title match at Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 3:

"Then it’s on to me and Logan Paul, the man who finally figured out that he can show up, sign the contract, and hand that title to me because it can’t go no other way. SummerSlam, new US Champion with everybody saying ‘LA Knight,’ yeah."

LA Knight found a surge in popularity after his feud with Bray Wyatt, and by the summer of 2023, he became a certified Megastar. However, he has not won a championship belt in WWE thus far.
