Major heel turn happening this Friday on SmackDown is possible, says WWE analyst, to set up title match with Cody Rhodes at Bad Blood

Cody Rhodes is currently not on the WWE Bad Blood card. However, a WWE analyst thinks a top superstar could turn heel this week on SmackDown to set up a match against The American Nightmare at the upcoming premium live event.

The superstar in question is none other than Kevin Owens. The Prizefighter is a close friend of Rhodes. At Bash in Berlin, The American Nightmare gave the 40-year-old a shot at his Undisputed WWE Championship. However, Owens failed to capture the title. After his loss, the former Universal Champion raised Rhodes' hand. Nevertheless, many still believe he could turn heel and betray his 39-year-old friend.

On the Cheap Heat podcast, analyst Peter Rosenberg wondered if Owens' anticipated heel turn would happen this week on SmackDown to set up a match between the two superstars at Bad Blood:

"I also think there's, two things, I think KO's gonna probably get Cody at Bad Blood. I don't know where else they're gonna go. [Or we get no Cody?] In Atlanta? Has to be. He has to be in Atlanta. There's no way. So, maybe we get heel KO this week," he said. [49:14 - 49:34]

Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship on SmackDown

Last month, Cody Rhodes successfully retained his championship against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam. The two will now go head-to-head again on SmackDown this Friday in a Steel Cage title match.

In an interview with Byron Saxton on SmackDown Lowdown, The American Nightmare addressed his upcoming clash with the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief. He stated that he would acknowledge Sikoa if the latter could dethrone him this Friday:

"I'd be a fool to say I was not concerned. I'd be a fool to say I didn't have a little trepidation, a little fear about it. But I have been in many a Steel Cage, and Solo Sikoa has never been in one. We said it out there, the Ula Fala, The Bloodline revolves around that thing. Well, the WWE revolves around this - the Undisputed WWE Championship. If Solo Sikoa is Tribal Chief enough to defeat me, however, he does it, I'll stand in that ring in front of God, in front of the whole world, and I'll acknowledge him," he said.

With Sikoa currently feuding with Roman Reigns, many fans believe The Original Tribal Chief could return to cost his cousin the match. It would be interesting to see if that would happen.
