Major interference in WWE Money in the Bank match leads to an unsuccessful cash-in
At the 2024 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, a major WWE star made an unexpected appearance during the show and interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship match. This took place after Drew McIntyre cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to make it a Triple Threat Match.
The Scottish Warrior defeated five other men in the opening match of the show to win the lucrative contract. He cashed it in on the same night during Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, he was not aware that CM Punk was going to interfere in the bout.
Drew McIntyre came very close to winning the title, but the Second City Saint showed up and attacked him. CM Punk hit the former with a steel chair multiple times and smashed him in the face with the world title belt.
Damian Priest then nailed Drew McIntyre with the South of Heaven Chokeslam to win the match and retain the title. CM Punk cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, Clash at the Castle, and he did it again at WWE Money in the Bank.
Drew made history by becoming the first person to unsuccessfully cash in the contract on the same night.
