Major match ends in controversy on WWE SmackDown; Montez Ford furious and hints at heel turn
Montez Ford teased a heel turn after a major match. This match ended in controversy on SmackDown tonight.
The tag team division in WWE is heating up with multiple teams gunning to become tag team champions. The current WWE Tag Team Championship holders are The Bloodline and they will have their work cut out for them.
To determine the next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championship, two triple threat matches were scheduled tonight on SmackDown where the winners will face each other next week on the blue brand. The winner of that match will then challenge The Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
In the first qualifying match of the night, The Street Profits faced off against DIY and Pretty Deadly. The match was exciting and had plenty of close calls. There was also a dramatic and controversial ending to the match. Towards the end of the match, Street Profits hit the Blockbuster on Elton Prince. Kit Wilson came to save him but DIY hit him with Meet in the Middle.
Montez Ford pinned Prince while Tommaso Ciampa pinned Wilson and the referee counted to three. While both teams thought they had won, the referee informed that since Wilson was the legal man, DIY won the match. This infuriated Montez Ford, who was visibly angry in the ring, teasing a potential heel turn.
It will be interesting to see who DIY will face in the next round of this WWE Tag Team Championship tournament.
