Major name blasts Jacob Fatu following WWE Bad Blood: "Star henchman"
A former WWE manager recently referred to Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline as a "star henchman." Jim Cornette has been a big fan of The Samoan Werewolf since his days at Major League Wrestling, but he's not ready to call him a top star just yet.
Fatu made his debut on the June 21 episode of WWE SmackDown, attacking Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes. He has not been pinned and has been booked as a dominant agile monster.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette and co-host Brian Last discussed the Bad Blood main event of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. The longtime wrestling personality called Rhodes, Reigns, and Sikoa as stars, while describing Fatu as a "star henchman."
"Everybody in the match is either a star or in the case of Jacob Fatu is the star henchman. So the match, and they kept it moving but they kept it fresh at the same time. It wasn't the same sh*t you always see it. It wasn't the same sh*t happening over and over," Cornette said. [3:16 - 3:37]
It's not a bad thing to be called a "star henchman" given how dominant Fatu has been since he debuted. He seemingly can go against anyone and stand out due to his athleticism and skill set.
Triple H once called Jacob Fatu a 'game changer'
Following Jacob Fatu's debut on SmackDown four months ago, Triple H had nothing but praise for The Samoan Werewolf. The WWE's Chief Content Officer called Fatu a "game changer" in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
"You see Solo putting himself out there as the Tribal Chief. You see Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa coming in. You see those guys starting to run wild. Then, the game changer happens of Jacob Fatu coming in. He's a game changer. You very clearly see that shift of, 'We're running the show now. This is the new Tribal Chief. This is the new Head of the Table.' That's only going to last so long before there is a return. Let's hope that Heyman’s nerves can take it. He looks like he's on his very last nerve. It’s an exciting time. That is ramping up big and they’re starting to go after Cody Rhodes and the WWE Title," Triple H said. (H/T Fightful)
Fatu stood out in the main event of Bad Blood despite sharing the ring with Reigns, Rhodes, and Sikoa. It also says a lot about WWE protecting him when the new Tribal Chief took the pin.
