Major non-WWE champion opens up about relationship with CM Punk: "That's my brother"
CM Punk’s WWE return at Survivor Series 2023 turned plenty of heads. A current UFC champion opened up about his relationship with The Best in the World after the latter mentioned his name on an episode of RAW.
Belal Muhammad won the Welterweight Title by dominating Leon Edwards last month at UFC 304. The main event match helped Belal become a bigger deal in the world of MMA.
CM Punk took a moment to congratulate Belal on his victory during a recent episode of RAW. The MMA fighter has trained with the former WWE Champion in the past, and fans saw another mini-verbal crossover between the two companies.
Following the segment, Belal Muhammad was asked about the segment and his relationship with CM Punk. The UFC Welterweight Champion noted that the two are good friends, and it was great to see him give a shout-out on RAW.
“That’s my brother,” said Muhammad. “We used to train together in Roufusport Milwaukee. He’s a good friend, he’s from Chicago, and any time we’re together, we’ll hit the stairs together or something and get a good workout in. He’s truly a genuine, good person. Seeing him give me that shout-out on Raw, that was epic. He’s always wanted to see me succeed."
He added that the two are very close to each other and he loves watching RAW thanks to Punk.
“I used to love Raw and I loved watching Punk. Then I got to know him, and he’s such a down-to-earth, good dude. He’s a friend and a brother,” Belal concluded.
CM Punk has helped many young stars in WWE grow over the years. It’s also great to see him share a good relationship with a UFC star who is doing extremely well in the company and recently won a top title.
CM Punk is still in a rivalry with Drew McIntyre on WWE RAW
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have rivaled since the 2024 Royal Rumble. However, the two men have only had one match, which happened at SummerSlam and was won by The Scottish Warrior.
While it looked like Punk would move into a rivalry with Seth Rollins, who played some role in his defeat at SummerSlam as the special referee, The Best in the World is still busy chasing down Drew McIntyre. CM Punk and The Scottish Warrior will collide once again soon, and WWE fans will likely see another match between them down the road before the rivalry is wrapped up.
Many rivalries are awaiting Punk on RAW, and WWE fans have had to wait for some time as he was injured during the 2024 Royal Rumble and spent a long time away from the ring. He will likely have some top WWE matches to cap off 2024 and throughout 2025.
