Major WWE angle set to take place on RAW
The WWE Universe is buzzing ahead of tonight's episode of RAW. The road to the 37th annual SummerSlam Premium Live Event will continue with several high-profile matches in the works. New information points to potential developments for two of the biggest red brand heavyweights.
Drew McIntyre has been confirmed for tonight's RAW. After his blow-up at the Money In the Bank PLE post-show due to a failed cash-in attempt the same night he won the briefcase. The Scotsman was fined and suspended indefinitely for putting hands on Adam Pearce.
The angry RAW General Manager later ordered Drew to come to RAW for a meeting. CM Punk all but demanded a match with the former 3MB member, but Pearce has ordered him to stay away from tonight's show.
The Scottish Warrior will address The Second City Saint's demands on tonight's RAW. WWE has confirmed that McIntyre will have a response to Punk's comments on a potential match, but there's no word yet on if he will accept the challenge.
"Drew McIntyre and CM Punk are in a bitter rivalry that reached new levels of animosity after The Best in the World interfered in The Scottish Psychopath’s Money in the Bank cash-in and allowed World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest to retain. Later tonight, McIntyre returns after being fined and suspended for his post-MITB outburst. With Punk given strict orders not to show his face, how will McIntyre respond after The Second City Saint all but demanded a match? Don’t miss the explosive return of McIntyre," reads the RAW preview on the official website.
WWE has not confirmed McIntyre vs. Punk for SummerSlam, but the match is heavily rumored to happen, depending on the former AEW World Champion's medical clearance. The Best in the World has been on the shelf since suffering a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble earlier this year and officials were forced to modify recent creative plans.
WWE RAW updates for tonight; first-time-ever match set
WWE has announced several top superstars for tonight's RAW as the road to SummerSlam continues. The show will air live from the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
The Judgment Day will have a heavy presence tonight as Rhea Ripley opens the show up with a promo to address last week's surprise return, which was heavily protected. WWE previously announced Damian Priest and Gunther for a face-off to promote their SummerSlam match, but now Priest is also booked for a match.
The World Heavyweight Champion will lock up with Braun Strowman in singles action. The title will not be on the line, and this will be the first-ever singles bout between the two.
The Wyatt Sicks are expected for RAW after their recent message. Tonight's show will also feature Sheamus vs. Bronson Reed and a title match with Sami Zayn defending the Intercontinental Championship against Ilja Dragunov.
