Major WWE faction arrives to RAW without key member
Tonight's WWE RAW will be live from Moda Center in Portland, Oregon as the company will continue to build towards Bad Blood Premium Live Event. Superstars are preparing for tonight's show, but it's now confirmed that a top red brand faction will be short on members once again this week.
Damage CTRL has been limited as of late. The heel faction lost a member in May when Asuka went down with a knee injury, which she actually suffered in March. It was then announced in early August that Dakota Kai would be undergoing surgery for another knee injury. She last wrestled on July 27 at the non-televised live event in Japan. Kai was set to face Sonya Deville on August 5 edition of red brand, but the Pure Fusion Collective attacked her backstage. Michael Cole later confirmed the injury, and Kai was expected to be out of action around eight to 10 weeks.
Kairi Sane and IYO SKY will be the only Damage CTRL representatives at RAW again this week. There has been some speculation on Kai returning earlier than expected, at least in a non-physical role, but WWE confirmed in the following arrival video that she is not there this week. It was also teased that Sane and SKY have something planned.
"What do @official_kairi and @iyo_sky have up their sleeve for TONIGHT? [eyes emoji] #WWERaw," reads the caption on the video below.
SKY and Sane lost a number one contender's match to The Unholy Union on the September 2, 2024, edition of RAW, which came one week after they defeated Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.
A major faction angle was reportedly scrapped from last week's show but is still expected for later. It remains to be seen if this angle was planned for Damage CTRL.
