Major WWE name says Triple H's style resonated more with him than The Rock's
The intense rivalry between Triple H and The Rock in the 2000s was a clash of titans, marked by intense promos, brutal matches, and unforgettable moments that defined WWE's Attitude Era. Recently, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed how The Game's approach to wrestling, mirroring his own, inspired him to pursue a career in the squared circle.
The National Treasure has not stepped between the ropes for a wrestling match ever since he joined WWE. Aldis has been a professional wrestler for over two decades, notably known for his time in TNA Wrestling and NWA, where he won world championships in both companies.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Nick Aldis revealed that while The Rock was a captivating figure for many, he found himself more drawn to Triple H's cerebral and self-aware approach, recognizing a kinship with the latter's wrestling style.
"But as much as The Rock was the man who captivated my imagination like so many of us who were in the business, probably half the roster, if they were honest with themselves, it was Rock. But for me, I was watching Hunter [Triple H], and I realized without articulating it at the time, I was studying him. Because I was sort of going well, self-awareness. I don't think I can be that guy, talking about The Rock. Because I'm not American number one, and I'm more cerebral, I had a bit more of that, I could relate more to that approach," he said. Nick Aldis names which WWE star is the MVP of the year
The Modern Day Gladiator was appointed as the SmackDown General Manager under Triple H's leadership in October 2023. Since Aldis has been in WWE for over a year now, he named his pick for MVP of 2024.
During the same chat with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Nick Aldis named Liv Morgan as the MVP of 2024, citing her significant improvement as WWE Women's World Champion in recent months.
"To me, Liv Morgan, I don't know what you want to call it breakout. I shouldn't really say break out. She's been around a long time, but she's the MVP of 2024, she leveled up in a huge way, immensely," he said.
The 38-year-old personality also said he might not wrestle full-time in WWE because he has yet to discuss an in-ring return with the company's management.
Only time will tell when Nick Aldis will lace up his wrestling boots and gear to potentially face RAW General Manager Adam Pearce in the ring, a dream match that fans have speculated about for the past few months.
