Major WWE star destroying and wrecking Cody Rhodes to start massive feud is possible, says ex-host
After Cody Rhodes overcame AJ Styles for the second time at Clash at the Castle, many suggested the Undisputed WWE Champion would soon feud with another top superstar. A former WWE host believes the suggested rivalry should start with The American Nightmare getting destroyed.
The ex-host in question is Matt Camp. On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, he addressed the moment Randy Orton was spotted looking at Rhodes' title at Clash at the Castle after he and Kevin Owens saved The American Nightmare from an attack from The Bloodline.
After claiming Rhodes would probably team up with Owens and Orton in a six-man tag match against The Bloodline at Money in the Bank, he discussed how The Viper could turn on his former Legacy associate to start their anticipated feud.
While Camp pointed out that the turn could come at Money in the Bank, he suggested Orton could wait until the following SmackDown before wrecking The American Nightmare:
"Now, how do you get to Cody and Randy? Does Randy turn in the match? You do have KO there so there's that caveat to it. Do you have them win and Randy take a little look at Cody's title and then on the SmackDown after when Cody goes: 'Listen, thanks for having my back, KO, Randy.' You gotta get Cody and Randy alone. That is the thing with KO being involved. You got to get Cody and Randy alone. And when that happens, Cody needs to get dropped. Cody needs to get wrecked by Randy Orton," he said. [9:03 - 9:41]
Matt Camp wants to see Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam
The American Nightmare and The Viper have much history since they were part of the same faction, The Legacy, nearly a decade and a half ago. On a previous episode of his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Matt Camp expressed his desire to see the two clash at this year's SummerSlam.
The former RAW Talk host stated he does not see a SummerSlam-level opponent for Cody Rhodes better than Randy Orton:
"I still think we gotta get to Randy and Cody at SummerSlam regardless of what happened at King of the Ring. I don't see a really good SummerSlam-level opponent for Cody, especially on the heel side, and I think that's where Randy is gotta go. Maybe they do the first match with them both being babyfaces and then the second match maybe then Randy is the heel, you know," he said.
After successfully defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle, it would be interesting to see what is next for The American Nightmare and whether his next challenger would be The Viper as many anticipate.
