Major WWE star gives Pure Fusion Collective a new name following RAW antics
A major WWE star revealed a new name for Pure Fusion Collective following their antics last night on RAW. The faction features Zoey Stark, Sonya Deville, and Shayna Baszler.
Last night on the red brand, Lyra Valkyria squared off against Zoey Stark in a singles match. Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler got involved and helped their stablemate pick up the victory.
After the match, the faction attacked Valkyria, but former Women's Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance rushed to the ring to make the save. The former NXT Women's Champion took to Instagram to give Pure Fusion Collective a new name following this week's episode of RAW.
"Pure frickin cheaters," she wrote.
Lyra Valkyria made it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament earlier this year but was defeated by Nia Jax. The Irresistible Force will be defending her WWE Women's Championship against Bayley this Saturday at Bad Blood.
Former WWE writer criticizes Pure Fusion Collective's booking
Wrestling legend Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on the booking of Pure Fusion Collective on WWE RAW.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Russo questioned the promotion handing the faction a loss a few weeks ago on the red brand. Natalya spent a few months on hiatus but returned to the red brand last month in Calgary to team up with Lyra Valkyria and Zelina Vega.
The trio defeated Pure Fusion Collective on the September 9 episode of WWE RAW, and Russo questioned the decision. The veteran noted that the company was spending a lot of money on the faction, and 50/50 booking wasn't going to help them succeed.
"What is the name of that group again? Pure Fusion Collective, bro, you know what’s bad? Natalya is in her hometown of Calgary, so they are doing the job...What you’re talking about there is all money and investment. That’s not free. The titantrons, the packages put together, that’s not free, that is an investment. So, you’re gonna invest all this money and at the end of the investment, it’s going to be 50-50." Sonya Deville missed several months of action due to a torn ACL before returning to the ring in July. It will be fascinating to see what WWE has planned for Pure Fusion Collective moving forward on RAW.
