Major WWE star will play a decisive role in CM Punk's match vs. Drew McIntyre, says veteran
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will finally go one-on-one this Saturday at WWE SummerSlam. A wrestling veteran recently predicted the winner of the square-off, stating that a top superstar will play a decisive role in the match.
The superstar in question is none other than Seth Rollins. The Visionary volunteered to be the special guest referee for the match between The Best in the World and The Scottish Warrior. Last Monday, the former World Heavyweight Champion laid out the rules for the square-off, summing them up in whatever he says goes. During a Q&A session on the Keepin' It 100 podcast, wrestling veteran Konnan predicted that Rollins would be decisive in the match's result.
Meanwhile, the WCW legend suggested that McIntyre should defeat his 45-year-old opponent:
"You can do either one if the storyline is good but I think it's about time Drew goes over. [And you can just have Rollins cheat Punk] Yeah, that's why they have him in there. He's gonna be in the finish somehow, right? If not, why would they have him there?" [1:26:34 - 1:26:57]
An ex-WWE host also predicted the match's result
Speaking on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp also predicted the result of CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's SummerSlam clash. Like Konnan, Camp believes The Scottish Warrior would leave Cleveland victorious.
The former RAW Talk host suggested Seth Rollins would accidentally cost The Best in the World the match, possibly leading to a match between Punk and The Visionary or a Triple Threat fight between the three superstars:
"Seth cost Punk, doesn't mean to [but] he does. Drew gets the win. The heel should win the first one. It's typically how it goes. If you're gonna do more than one, the heel wins the first one. Drew is 'technically' the heel. And you can spin that off, you know. We don't go right back to Punk and Drew. Maybe there's a Punk-Seth match in there first. Maybe there's a Triple Threat Match in there first. Maybe Bad Blood gets us back to Drew and Punk. That's a possibility," he said. [41:05 - 41:37]
Punk and McIntyre's feud has been one of the hottest storylines in WWE since January. It would be interesting to see who will come out on top when they clash at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
