Major WWE star will undergo an aggressive heel turn following match with Cody Rhodes, says veteran
A wrestling veteran has claimed that a top WWE SmackDown superstar will eventually turn heel in the upcoming weeks. The star recently lost a massive match against Cody Rhodes. The veteran in question is Matthew Rehwoldt (FKA Aiden English), who performed for the Stamford-based company from 2012 to 2020.
Last Saturday, The American Nightmare defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against his friend and ally, Kevin Owens, at Bash in Berlin. Although many expected The Prizefighter to turn heel on Rhodes in the German capital, it did not happen despite him teasing it a few times during the match. Instead, KO raised Rhodes' hand in a sign of respect after the match ended in the second-generation superstar's favor.
While discussing Kevin's match with Rhodes on the REBOOKED Wrestling Podcast, the erstwhile Aiden English predicted that KO would have an "aggressive heel turn" at some point.
"I love all those moments of whether it was the knee, the Powerbomb on the apron, or just, like, not doing it. And I love that because it's just I love seeing those moments. It tells a very clear but very good story. And then I really think this is gonna lead; I think we're still getting to a Kevin Owens a little bit aggressive heel turn at some point. But I think this is a wonderful way to get there," he said. [6:34-6:58]
WWE analyst claims Kevin Owens will never defeat Cody Rhodes
In the recent episode of the Cheap Heat podcast, WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg discussed Kevin Owens' storyline with Cody Rhodes.
The veteran predicted the angle between the two SmackDown Superstars would continue despite The Prizefighter's loss at Bash in Berlin. When asked whether he believed the former Universal Champion could ever defeat The American Nightmare, Rosenberg gave a negative answer.
"[You talk about the Kevin Owens thing; there is no chance that Kevin Owens ever beats Cody Rhodes?] No!" he said.
While Rhodes will likely defend his title against Solo Sikoa in a SummerSlam rematch, it will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has in store for Kevin Owens on the blue brand in the coming weeks.
