Major WWE Superstar could challenge Cody Rhodes after potentially beating Goldberg, says veteran

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg recently confirmed that he would have a retirement match in 2025. Wrestling veteran Al Snow has suggested a top superstar could beat the former Universal Champion before going after Cody Rhodes.

Last month, Goldberg returned at Bad Blood, where he almost had a physical altercation with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. After The Ring General insulted the Hall of Famer, the latter jumped over the barricade and attempted to get in the ring to fight him. However, security interfered to separate the two. The former Universal Champion later announced that he would return for a retirement match next year, teasing going head-to-head against Gunther.

Speaking on The Brand podcast, wrestling veteran Al Snow claimed Gunther could beat Goldberg before challenging The American Nightmare. The 37-year-old recently went head-to-head against Rhodes at Crown Jewel but came up short:

"If they were to beat Goldberg with Gunther, which again business-wise they should, now you've got Gunther is coming off of that and could make a run at some point in the months down the line against Cody, be a threat, you know," he said. [5:26 - 5:41]

Ex-WWE star wants Gunther to squash Goldberg

Former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan addressed the potential square-off between World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Goldberg on the Gigantic Pop podcast.

The wrestling veteran suggested that The Ring General squash the WWE Hall of Famer in 10 seconds:

"He [Gunther] can still be champion and he needs to job Goldberg out in 10 seconds flat. It cannot be a back-and-forth match. [...] With respect to Goldberg, great career, one of the greatest streaks of all time, we all were fans of his, I was in college. He was one of the most over talents of all time during his height of his success. But we all get old, it is what it is, and Gunther would absolutely eviscerate him and he needs to eviscerate him," he said.

Goldberg last competed in February 2022 when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. It will be interesting to see when the 57-year-old returns to the ring.
