Major WWE Superstar prefers being heel; teases potential turn

A former WWE Champion recently teased a potential heel turn, saying he is not used to being a babyface. The superstar in question is The Miz.

The A-lister has been a heel for a large part of his career. He has been hugely successful playing the bad guy, having won several championships as a heel over the years. The 43-year-old, however, is currently teaming up with R-Truth, making the duo one of the most beloved tag teams on the roster.

In an interview with WrestleRant Radio, The Miz mentioned he loves being hated by the fans. The eight-time Intercontinental Champion seemingly teased a heel turn as he stated he wanted people to despise him, as that gives him the satisfaction of having been good at his craft.

"No, I'm not used to it at all. People are like, what would you rather be? It's like, I love being hated. A lot of people, some bad guys, don't like to be hated. They'll go on X or Instagram and look at the comments to see if they're like, 'Oh, I don't like him, but man, is he cool'. Or I don't like him, but man, he's got cool moves. I don't like that. I want people to despise me and can't stand me. That's me doing my job to the best of my ability," he said.

The Miz further stated he automatically became a beloved babyface after joining forces with R-Truth. He praised the 52-year-old WWE Superstar who had been around longer than most others. He noted that Truth knew the fine line between being a comic and being taken seriously, at the same time, and had perfected his craft and continues to deliver even to this day.

"Now, after I don't know what, 18 years of being a bad guy, all of a sudden, you attach yourself to R-Truth, and you're going to be beloved because there is no one more beloved in WWE than R-Truth. People always say like, I'm underrated. I don't think people realize how underrated R-Truth is as a talent. He's been here longer than everybody else and has been able to evolve and make amazing content. Like he's taken seriously, but he also can be funny. That's very difficult to do. Very difficult. Funny is usually not taken seriously. You're just a goof. Truth is able to find that fine line, and I'm loving being along with the rides with him," he added. [H/T: Fightful]

The Miz and R-Truth are currently feuding with WWE's top heel faction

The Awesome Truth and A-Town Down Under dethroned Damian Priest and Finn Balor at WrestleMania XL as the two teams retrieved a set of tag team titles each in the Six-Pack Ladder Match. The WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship was finally split, and both teams were handed new and rebranded title belts.

The Miz and R-Truth lost their World Tag Team Championship to The Judgment Day's Finn Balor and JD McDonagh on the June 24 edition of Monday Night RAW, following interference from Women's World Champion, Liv Morgan. Interestingly, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory also lost the WWE Tag Team Championship recently as DIY became the new champions on the blue brand.

The Miz and R-Truth, however, have continued their feud with The Judgment Day. The two veteran performers recently teamed up with Braun Strowman to take on the heel faction. It remains to be seen if they will reclaim the title.
