Mark Henry thanks Randy Orton, but not for their WWE match
Randy Orton is the one who Mark Henry defeated at Night of Champions 2011, where the latter won his sole world title in WWE. This reign was iconic as fans remember the Hall of Pain fondly today.
Henry's final WWE appearance was on the January 4, 2021 episode of the red brand, which was a special themed RAW Legends Night. He was seen in a backstage segment with Randy Orton, who verbally bashed him.
The Hall of Famer revealed on an episode of Busted Open that Orton contacted his son, Jacob with words of encouragement and the Hall of Famer thanked The Viper for his kind gesture. The youngster is looking to make a mark in the wrestling scene, much like his legendary father.
"Randy reached out to my son Jacob on social media. Told him how good he was doing, how proud he was to see him doing what he was doing, and gave him some uncle sage advice, and talked to him like he would talk to his son. And I want to thank Randy for that," said Henry.
Although he left the company, Henry still kept an eye on the product. He and The Undertaker praised Gunther's work among today's crop of top talents, claiming that the promotion needs an athlete like The Ring General.
