Massive absent WWE star returning to win Royal Rumble & challenge Gunther is possible, says analyst
Gunther captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam earlier this year. A WWE analyst recently discussed the potential return of a massive absent superstar to challenge The Ring General at WrestleMania after possibly winning the Men's Royal Rumble match.
The World Heavyweight Champion has been vocal about his desire to share the ring with Brock Lesnar. Although they were rumored to square off earlier this year at WrestleMania 40, the match never happened. Last week on RAW, The Beast Incarnate was seemingly referenced twice, including once during Cody Rhodes' segment with Gunther, leading to speculation about his return. The 47-year-old was last seen in WWE in August 2023 when he lost to The American Nightmare at SummerSlam.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, analyst Sam Roberts suggested that Gunther should face John Cena at WrestleMania 41. However, he pointed out that if the company wanted to book Lesnar versus The Ring General, The Beast Incarnate could win the Men's Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber to earn a World Heavyweight Championship shot:
"If you're gonna have Brock and Gunther, I'd think WrestleMania. I mean, personally, I've already got, I don't even have it in my head anymore because I've got Gunther and John Cena for WrestleMania. But if you're gonna do Gunther and Brock at WrestleMania, I don't know, I mean, Brock would just win the Chamber or the Rumble, right?" [1:09:29 - 1:09:49]
Ex-WWE star wants to see Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther
On the Busted Open podcast, Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently discussed Brock Lesnar's potential return after over a year of absence to square off against Gunther.
The former WWE Superstar expressed his desire to see the two go head-to-head inside the squared circle:
"All I know is I would love to see Brock [Lesnar] and Gunther probably much like everybody else out there," he said.
Earlier this year, Chief Content Officer Triple H addressed Lesnar's status, stating that the latter was in Canada doing his own thing. Meanwhile, The Game pointed out that he was open to speaking with The Beast Incarnate if he wanted to make his comeback.
