Massive star interested in WWE in-ring return after 11 years for one last match with John Cena before he retires

A massive name is interested in returning to WWE next year and having one final match with John Cena before he retires. The name in question is former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam.

It has been quite a while since Rob Van Dam was last seen in the Stamford-based promotion. He is now a WWE Hall of Famer and is one of the most respected individuals in the pro wrestling business. RVD is also one of John Cena's former rivals in the company.

A fan recently tweeted that they want to see Mr. PPV come back to WWE next year and have one last match with Cena before the latter calls it quits. The 53-year-old noticed the tweet and responded to the same, making it known that he is interested in one last match with his former WWE rival. For those unaware, RVD's last match in the Stamford-based promotion took place on the August 26, 2014, edition of Main Event, where he defeated Seth Rollins via countout.

Check out RVD's tweet below:

It remains to be seen whether Mr. Friday Night indeed returns to the Stamford-based company to have a showdown with The Chain Gang Soldier.

Rob Van Dam got emotional while talking about his win over WWE legend John Cena

At the ECW One Night Stand 2006 Pay-Per-View, Rob Van Dam defeated John Cena to become the WWE Champion. He opened up about it on his 1 Of A Kind podcast and had the following to say:

"What I remember from that, One. Two. Three. Oh my god, that really just happened. That's how I felt, like I'm on top of the world right now. The coveted top seat in the industry. I did it my way which meant so much more to me than winning it 20 times doing it their way. So, what I remember is like, taking that moment and... right now it's gonna get choked up about that. But, I remember [wipes tears]. Ah. This is weird." [0:09 - 1:00]

At the age of 53, RVD is still in incredible shape. It remains to be seen if fans get to see him take on John Cena one last time. Fans are excited to witness the 16-time World Champion wrestle some of WWE's biggest names next year before hanging up his boots.
