Massive WWE legend heading to Tony Khan's AEW after controversial post is possible, says ex-employee
Former WWE employee believes Tony Khan could be on his way to acquiring another wrestling legend, according to Tommy Carlucci. That former superstar recently posted a controversial message on Instagram.
The legend in question is none other than Becky Lynch. The Man last appeared on WWE television in May when she lost a Women's World Championship Steel Cage Match to Liv Morgan on RAW. She has since stepped away from the wrestling ring as her contract reportedly expired.
After her A&E Biography: WWE Legends episode aired, Lynch took to Instagram to send fans a thank you message that many interpreted as a potential retirement announcement. While addressing the 37-year-old's future on Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word, former employee Tommy Carlucci pointed out that The Man could be planning another move.
Carlucci, who spent over 30 years in the Stamford-based company, claimed Seth Rollins' wife might not be retiring. Instead, she could be heading to AEW:
"Maybe she's done with WWE and maybe making her way to AEW," he said. [25:37 - 25:45]
Is Seth Rollins being punished in WWE because of Becky Lynch?
Despite being one of the top superstars in the Stamford-based company, Seth Rollins did not have a match at SummerSlam 2024. Instead, he was the special guest referee for CM Punk versus Drew McIntyre. Meanwhile, The Visionary got destroyed by Bronson Reed last night on RAW.
On Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word, Carlucci's co-host, wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman, speculated that the former World Heavyweight Champion might be getting punished because his wife did not sign a new deal with the promotion,
"Word on the street is TKO, the parent company, doesn't want to pay these superstars like that. (...) Remember their deal with the UFC? Like, they own the UFC. What's the storyline with the UFC all the time? I don't wanna pay the fighters, right? So, what do you think they're doing on this side of the fence now that they run the WWE? I don't wanna pay. Unless I have to, I'm not gonna pay these people. But Tommy, if she's pi**ing them off, you don't think they're gonna take it off on Seth Rollins?"
The Stamford-based company was reportedly not officially informed of Becky Lynch's retirement. However, sources inside the promotion told Fightful that they do not believe she would make such an announcement on Instagram. It would be interesting to see what is next for The Man.
