Massive WWE Superstar returning from severe injury to take out Cody Rhodes is possible, says analyst
A massive WWE Superstar is currently out with an injury. WWE analyst Sam Roberts recently speculated that the mentioned superstar could take out Cody Rhodes upon his comeback.
Over the past few weeks, Randy Orton has been feuding with Kevin Owens. Last Friday on SmackDown, The Viper was stretchered out of the arena after The Prizefighter hit him with a devastating piledriver. WWE later announced that the 14-time World Champion was diagnosed with cervical cord neurapraxia due to the assault. His return date remains unknown.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts proposed a scenario where Owens would continue his feud with Cody Rhodes in Orton's absence. He pointed out that The Viper could return after The American Nightmare beats The Prizefighter in a match. Roberts predicted that the 44-year-old would turn on the Undisputed WWE Champion instead of targeting Owens.
"I think what we've got is an instance where maybe Cody and Kevin Owens have their match, Cody wins, Randy comes out to applaud Cody Rhodes, and Randy turns on Cody Rhodes. This is how dastardly Randy Orton is, that even though he's got this personal beef with Kevin Owens, even though Kevin Owens did everything that he did to Randy Orton, and Cody was only there to help Randy, Randy looks at Cody, his best friend, who is the champion, and Kevin Owens, his worst enemy, who is not the champion, and turns on Cody Rhodes because that's the snake that Randy Orton is," he said.
The 41-year-old analyst claimed the main difference between Owens and Rhodes in Orton's eyes would be that The American Nightmare holds the title that The Viper has been eying for several months:
"Because what's the difference between the two of them? The difference between the two of them is not one is Randy's friend and one is not Randy's friend. The difference between the two of them is one of them has the championship. And that's the same championship that Randy Orton has had his eyes locked on for months. Cody Rhodes beats Kevin Owens and instead of Randy saying I appreciate what you did for me Cody, Randy turns on Cody. And this is how we build to Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes." [42:24 - 43:44]
Will Cody Rhodes lose his Undisputed WWE Championship before WrestleMania 41?
On a recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, the TV host and podcaster discussed the future of Cody Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship reign.
Van Vliet predicted that The American Nightmare would lose the championship before next year's WrestleMania:
"Seems like, unless things start to change, seems like he could be the champion going into next year. And then he could possibly be the champion going into WrestleMania. Otherwise, my gut tells me that that's not gonna be the case. I think he loses it to somebody else," he said.
It will be interesting to see whether Rhodes drops the title in the coming months and whether Randy Orton will be the one to dethrone him.
