Massive WWE team split has been "long overdue," says Teddy Long (Exclusive)
A WWE team is seemingly close to a split, which has led to disappointment for a section of fans. However, Hall of Famer Teddy Long has a different opinion.
The team being talked about is The New Day, one of the most recognizable stables in recent WWE history. While Big E has been out of action for quite a while now, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have steadily been a part of the faction for around a decade now. However, recent events seem to have put a strain on their relationship, which is likely to end with them going their separate ways.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long stated:
"I thought the promo was outstanding I mean it was real, and it was believable. But I think this has been long overdue. I think you know, they should have did [sic] something there when they had Big E... So that it would have been really, really legit. But if I were them, and they are gonna have this big celebration, then that's when I would bring Big E in." [2:28 onwards]
The WWE Hall of Famer wants the storyline stretched more
According to Teddy Long, the return of Big E should set up a longer storyline than what it seems like at this point.
Continuing his thoughts on the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer explained his point:
"I would have Big E be a part of that celebration. Then maybe Kofi and Xavier, they get into some sh*t right there. Maybe Big E is trying to straighten this thing out, maybe one of them lays a punch on him. Now we got something going. But I wouldn't do it all right there. I would start it there, and work it all the way to the next Monday Night RAW or whatever TV they wanna do it on." [2:55 onwards]
For now, it remains unclear what the future of the stable will be in WWE.
