Matt Cardona reacts after wrestling card is sold for $132,000

Matt Cardona, the WWE Superstar formerly known as Zack Ryder, recently reacted to a wrestling card being sold for a whopping $132,000. Cardona is a big fan of collecting wrestling memorabilia, mainly action figures, but has ventured into cards as well.

According to the Wrestling Card Price Guide on X, a Hulk Hogan card has set the record for the most expensive wrestling card ever sold at $132,000, including the buyer's premium. A Hogan 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series A graded PSA 9 was recently won via Heritage Auctions.

Cardona, who also collects wrestling cards, could not believe that the base card was sold in a six-digit amount. The card is considered as Hogan's "rookie card," or his first-ever card released in 1982.

Due to its condition, which was reportedly nearly perfect, plus Hogan's status as one of the greatest, its value ballooned over the years. While there are many other cards like it in existence, it's rare to see a PSA 9 graded version.

"INSANE," Cardona tweeted.

Matt Cardona had mentioned in one of his Instagram reels back in June that he was looking for the exact same Hulk Hogan card. While the PSA 9 broke the record for the most expensive card ever sold, the same card with a lower grade will likely be around the $9,000 range.

For those wondering, the previous record was held by a 2022 Panini Prizm WWE Black Prizms The Rock 1 of 1. It was sold for $126,000 via Fanatics though it only got a grade of PSA 7. It too was a one-of-a-kind card, so it wasn't surprising that it fetched six digits.

Matt Cardona to challenge Chris Jericho for ROH World Championship

After being released by WWE, Matt Cardona bet on himself and became a star on the independent circuit. Cardona remains a free agent, gaining flexibility and control of his schedule. He's currently working for Game Changer Wrestling and TNA Wrestling.

Cardona also recently appeared on Ring of Honor, which is owned by Tony Khan under the All Elite Wrestling banner. He made his debut for ROH on Dec. 15, to confront ROH World Champion Chris Jericho.

Jericho is set to defend the ROH World Championship against Cardona at Final Battle on December 20. It will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City and is available via ROH's exclusive streaming platform Honor Club.
