Matt Riddle clears the air about Brock Lesnar accusations
Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle has shed light on his controversial comments involving Brock Lesnar.
The 37-year-old star recently claimed that initially, he was the chosen one to win Royal Rumble 2022. He also stated that Lesnar made his way into the 30-man contest at the eleventh hour and stole the win by refusing to cooperate with anyone backstage in WWE.
Riddle's statement has been making rounds on the internet, which led to WON debunking the star's bold claim. As per the report, The King of Bros was never considered to win the Rumble at that point.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the former RK-Bro member set the record straight on his comments and the alleged altered Royal Rumble plans.
The former United States Champion clarified that Brock Lesnar didn't steal a victory under his nose. Matt Riddle shared that after The Beast lost the world title to Bobby Lashley, he wanted to do good business with WWE.
This led to the creative members of the Stamford-based promotions and other stars doing their jobs and collectively deciding Lesnar as the winner of Royal Rumble 2022.
"A lot of things are told to you and don't happen, and other things happen. But yes, at one point, I was told it was a possibility that (inaudible) the Rumble and that I was gonna do a triangle to Brock (Lesnar) and this and that. And when Brock came in the back, and Brock is Brock, there's no I have no hard feelings. He just did the job to Bobby. He goes, 'Hey, you guys got to do business for me. I did this good business for Bobby, and we do good business for me.' And we're like, 'All right, [what are] you're gonna do,' and everybody was like, 'Okay,' and that's what we did. We sat in, and we did our jobs," Riddle said. (H/T - Wrestling News)
Dutch Mantell gave his opinion on Matt Riddle's claim about Brock Lesnar
The former WWE manager Dutch Mantell opened up about Riddle's comment on Brock Lesnar emerging victorious at the Rumble in 2022.
On an episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the 74-year-old legend noted that if The Beast Incarnate had stepped over WWE's creative to steal the win, it raised questions about Triple H and Vince McMahon's power backstage.
"He (Brock Lesnar) has a relationship with Vince or had, a very close relationship with Vince McMahon...and when he walks in he said, 'Hey, I'm winning it guys.' That's it, which sounds very very out of place in a WWE setting, that he walks in and says I'm winning it. Now didn't they check with Vince McMahon, didn't they check for somebody, didn't they with Triple H?" Dutch Mantell said.
