"Maybe that wasn't the best" - WWE star opens up about teaming with Bobby Lashley ahead of his move to AEW
Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley shook the wrestling world with his remarkable AEW debut a few weeks ago. In the process, he reunited with MVP and Shelton Benjamin, now going by the name "The Hurt Syndicate."
Before he departed from World Wrestling Entertainment, Bobby Lashley worked with The Street Profits and B-Fab. The faction did not find the level of success he previously achieved with The Hurt Business.
Speaking on The Five Count, Montez Ford noted that working with Bobby Lashley was a trial and error method that did not work out ultimately. As for The Street Profits, Ford added that they are looking to get back to the top of WWE's tag team division:
"Back to business, you know?" Montez Ford began. "You go through transitions in life. You add adjustments that will possibly make you better. You do trial and error and then you come to find out that maybe that wasn't the best interest for you," he said. [From 9:48 to 10:02]
The former Tag Team Champion further claimed they had to trim access they did not need. Now, it is a matter of being a part of the conversation and, in the main event, whatever it takes.
Bobby Lashley felt WWE "spit in the face" with regard to The Hurt Business
In 2020, WWE faced the unenviably painful challenge of putting on a show with no crowd in attendance. Despite this, Bobby Lashley considered it as part of the job and put in the work.
During the K&S WrestleFest virtual signing recently, Lashley recounted WWE's nixed plans for The Hurt Business to reunite after prematurely disbanding in early 2021. They were dominating television, along with The Bloodline, and were two noteworthy factions in the wrestling world at the time.
"What about the guys who were putting the time in during this dangerous time? We got overlooked. That was a little bit of a spit in the face. I think we could have come back and done some big things together. They just didn't want us. Different strokes for different folks. Different people like different things. When the regime changed, the regime wasn't too high on me at all," Lashley said.
Bobby Lashley debuted on the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite. He targeted former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland after the latter beat Shelton Benjamin in singles action. After the bout, MVP subsequently took the mic and said, "Guess who's back in business?" The All Mighty will challenge Strickland at AEW Full Gear.
