Michael Cole causes popular star to break character after shot at WWE official on RAW
WWE RAW commentator Michael Cole caused a popular star to break character after he took a shot at a referee during this past Monday's episode of RAW. The veteran has been with the company since 1997.
Michael Cole and Pat McAfee serve as the commentators on WWE RAW and a hilarious moment took place on this week's show. While discussing Braun Strowman, Cole used the former Universal Champion's "The Monster of All Monsters" nickname. He then joked that the referee in the ring looked like Dracula, and McAfee broke character to laugh.
The former Indianapolis Colts punter attempted to gather himself but wound up laughing again as seen in the video below.
Cole started as a backstage interviewer but has become a staple on WWE's commentary team for many years.
Michael Cole discloses who he thinks will replace him in WWE
Wrestling veteran Michael Cole has claimed that he will be retiring when he turns 60 and believes a current member of the roster will serve as his replacement.
In an interview with Awful Announcing earlier this year, Cole discussed who he believes will be his replacement in the company as lead announcer. He named Corey Graves and said the former NXT Tag Team Champion has been "killing it." Cole added that Graves has found his own voice and noted that he has a great opportunity moving forward.
"[It was] a matter of giving him the opportunity to sit side by side for many years, to watch, learn, study, and see how I do things. And at the end of the day, when we gave him the shot? He’s been killing it. I believe he’s the heir apparent. Corey now has a Corey Graves Voice. A lot of the issues we had were that we tried to develop commentators to be Michael Cole," he admitted. "Now we have a chance to develop Corey Graves. I truly, honestly believe he’s going to be the one to replace me. He’s an incredible human being. He has a great opportunity," he said. WWE star Valhalla recently referred to Michael Cole as the "voice of RAW" and praised him as a talent. It will be interesting to see who becomes the company's lead announcer once Cole decides to walk away down the line.
