Mick Foley says his match with current WWE SmackDown star is his favorite of all time

Wrestling legend Mick Foley has shared that his match with a current WWE SmackDown star at Backlash in 2004 is his favorite match of all time. His opponent that night was none other than Randy Orton.

The Viper was known as the Legend Killer during his early run, as he made a career out of destroying legendary wrestlers. Two decades ago, he collided with Cactus Jack in a Hardcore match for the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash, which he won.

Mick Foley reflected on the match during a recent video on the WWE Vault YouTube channel. He said he was proud of their performance and that it was his and Randy Orton's favorite match of all time.

"I was a big believer in the potential of Randy Orton, and I thought I've got this amazing young athlete, [whose] ears and eyes [were] wide open, and we're in a situation where he can help me have the type of match I need to have to feel complete, and I can help him take that next step up the ladder. Given his age and experience, it was a performance for the ages," Foley said. "I think to this day, he says, it's his favorite match. [It's] my favorite match of all time." (H/T Fightful)

Mick Foley believes that his match with Randy Orton put the latter on the map

The Apex Predator received a big push in WWE after he arrived on the main roster. He was a member of Evolution and became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion of all time.

Mick Foley added that he is proud of how the match turned out, and he thinks that it put Randy Orton on the map.

"This is the finest elbow I've dropped in my life, largely because of the camera shot that caught it. Boom right into your living room. This match, it had done exactly what I hoped it would do, and then some," he said. "It had helped put him on the map. He was already on the map, but he was boldly placed. A star is born."

Randy Orton became a 14-time world champion after his match with Mick Foley. He'll undoubtedly go down as a legend.
