Mickie James targets Charlotte Flair following Royal Rumble announcement
Is IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James on a collision course with SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair at the 2022 Royal Rumble?
On Friday, WWE announced that James will compete in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble Match. The next night, she successfully defended her Knockouts Championship against Deonna Purrazzo at IMPACT Hard To Kill. As a result, it seems like she'll enter WWE's Premium Live Event with the title around her waist.
In a tweet, James addressed Charlotte Flair, and seemingly teased a confrontation with The Queen. The two champions could collide at WWE Royal Rumble, as they'll both compete in the women's battle royal.
"Hi *crown emoji* it's me. *cowboy hat face emoji*," James wrote to Charlotte Flair on twitter.
Charlotte Flair wants to have a match with Mickie James
It seems clear that both James and Flair want to make this dream match a reality. Two years ago, The Queen expressed her interest in facing James by tweeting out:
"We need to have match @MickieJames #happywoooyear."
Unfortunately, James was released before fans ever got to see that match on WWE programming. But now, with the way the wrestling industry is working in 2022, it seems things that were once unheard of are now possible.
Over the next few weeks, it will be interesting to see whether James retains the title heading into WWE Royal Rumble. Tasha Steelz recently became the number one contender for that title last night after she won the first-ever women's Ultimate X match.
Will James appear at the 2022 Royal Rumble as IMPACT Knockouts Champion? Fans will find out soon enough.
