Montez Ford shoots on new signees showing up in WWE; expresses frustration over recent booking
Montez Ford recently gave his thoughts on new signees that join WWE. He has also expressed that he is not happy that Street Profits have been overlooked in recent years.
Montez Ford is one-half of one of the most popular tag teams in WWE - Street Profits. When they first arrived on the main roster, they were pushed to the moon. They quickly established themselves as one of the top tag teams in the division and even won the tag titles.
However, they seem to have hit a bump in the road in recent years. The duo have failed to win the tag titles since October 2020 and have taken a backseat to other teams. Additionally, there have been new tag teams that have come to WWE, like Motor City Machine Guns, who have won the tag titles, which hasn't sat right with them.
During a recent interview with Dailymail, Montez Ford voiced his opinion on new tag teams that have won the tag titles while they haven't held gold since 2020. He also expressed frustration over not being Tag Team Champions in four years.
"For me to sit here and go like, how's it going, that it's good, that'd be a lie,' he reflects. "There's always pleasure in doing what you love, what you admire, what you have dreamt of, what you have goals in and passion for, but it does get to that sense of frustration where anything you try to accomplish in life, where you may feel like it's either taking too long, or it's been too long, or nothing's happening. You've got new faces showing up on the scene, and our audience naturally tends to forget what we've done and how we've done it. In the now, it is at the point where it's been almost four years since we've been Tag Team Champions." [H/T Dailymail]
Montez Ford on Bobby Lashley's WWE departure
Bobby Lashley formed a faction with the Street Profits in 2023 called The Pride. The group began gaining traction and even competed against The Final Testament at WrestleMania 40.
However, their momentum was derailed when Lashley was injured before the King of the Ring tournament. Within a few months, he had departed the company. During the same interview, Montez Ford said that Lashley's departure taught him a valuable lesson: anything can happen at any time.
"When all of those things were happening, we were very, very excited, because he [Lashley] was somebody we looked up to, somebody I watched as a kid, and now I'm being paired with him, and he's being my mentor, and he's ushering us in this new chapter of the Street Profits. All these things are running, we have a WrestleMania win, and then boom, it just stops. And it's been this constant stop and go and stop and go and stop and go with the Profits where we'll get momentum and then the momentum will stop, then momentum will start again, and the momentum will stop. And for us, that's frustrating, because it's hard to get behind a team whose momentum starts and then it shifts again," Montez Ford said. [HT: The Daily Mail]
It will be interesting to see if The Street Profits will be able to pick themselves up and get back to their winning ways again.
