Motor City Machine Guns must be sent to NXT and not the main roster, says veteran (Exclusive)

While nothing is confirmed yet, The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly WWE-bound, and many fans are excited about their arrival. During the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell explained why the experienced tag team needs to have a stint in NXT before going to the WWE main roster.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been amongst the best tag teams in the world for several years, but have never signed a full-time deal with the WWE. It is, however, a new era in the Triple H-led company, and recent reports revealed that Shelley and Sabin have finally chosen to join WWE.

Dutch Mantell, who has worked for most major wrestling companies during his heyday as a talent and executive, highlighted the experience of The Motor City Machine Guns:

"The Motor City Machine Guns, how long have they been in the business? 15 years or more? They were in TNA forever!" [From 48:16 to 48:30]

Regarding how WWE should book them, Dutch Mantell stated that Shelley and Sabin could benefit from having a short run in NXT, where they wouldn't be "run ragged" and could have a relaxed schedule under Shawn Michaels' leadership.

After they understand the WWE system, The Motor City Machine Guns can get a run on the main roster, according to Mantell:

"No, I wouldn't bring them to the main roster. I'd go NXT and break them in there; they won't be run ragged, you know, making house shows and all this. They will just do the local thing they have in Orlando. They can talk to them, get them accustomed to how the WWE works, and bring them up." [From 49:43 to 50:13]

The Motor City Machine Guns are one of the most skilled tag teams in the business, and it would be interesting to see where they kickstart their long-awaited WWE journey.
