MVP reveals how WWE veteran paved the way for 33-year-old star's addition to popular faction
When MVP returned to WWE in 2020 during the Men's Royal Rumble Match, most fans expected Brock Lesnar to steamroll through the former United States Champion. Little did people know that the veteran would later form one of the most dominant factions in the company.
Despite its sudden disbandment, The Hurt Business made a mark during its memorable run. The faction helped up-and-coming star, Cedric Alexander, gain prominence alongside veterans like Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. MVP has even called it his career highlight as an on-screen manager.
Speaking to WrestleZone, MVP fondly reminisced his time in the four-man faction. He also recalled how his "true friend" Benjamin recommended that Alexander should be part of their clan:
"The Hurt Business obviously is very, very special because Shelton Benjamin is a true friend of mine. We’ve been friends. We live less than five minutes from each other. Bobby Lashley is the same. The three of us have been friends across different companies, across different countries for well over a decade. So, our relationship is organic."
MVP added that the 33-year-old knew Benjamin from their ROH stint:
"Cedric Alexander had a relationship with Shelton from their time in Ring of Honor together. So, when Shelton said, ‘I vouch for this guy,’ that’s all I needed to hear. Then Cedric and I developed a wonderful relationship." [H/T: WrestleZone]

Bobby Lashley believes the former WWE faction must reunite to take down The Bloodline
The Hurt Business split two years ago on the Road to WrestleMania 37. Roman Reigns cemented his position as the top guy at The Show of Shows in 2021 by defeating Hall of Famer Edge and Daniel Bryan to retain his Universal Championship.
Over the past two years, The Bloodline has grown in numbers, adding a dominant athlete like Solo Sikoa to its ranks.
Bobby Lashley believes he should be in the conversation to dethrone The Tribal Chief as the latter is nearing 1,000 days as Universal Champion. Two months ago, The All Mighty revealed that he wanted to reform The Hurt Business and go up against Roman Reigns' faction.
"Roman's on the top of the business. He's been doing everything, and now he has back-up, which makes him even more dangerous. I'd like to be able to do a program with him at some time. I think The Hurt Business and The Bloodline would be a good little feud to have, and hopefully we can get The Hurt Business back together. If we do that, put it against The Bloodline and let's see who's better."
WWE has seemingly scrapped plans for the stable's reunion, despite teasing it on RAW earlier this year. However, the opportunity still remains for the faction to reunite.
Following the 2023 WWE Draft, Bobby Lashley is exclusive to the blue brand, while Omos, MVP, Benjamin, and Alexander are free agents.
