MVP trains with released WWE Superstar amid injury hiatus

Former Hurt Business member MVP recently revealed that he has been training with a released WWE Superstar amid his absence due to injury. The name in question is Shelton Benjamin.

The 48-year-old was released from his contract in September last year. His former stablemate Montel Vontavious Porter, however, recently underwent stem cell treatment in the hope of returning to the squared circle for one last run. He last competed in a wrestling match in July 2022.

MVP recently took to Instagram to share a video of himself working out. In the caption, the 50-year-old mentioned he started hitting the gym this week after doctor's advice. He further referred to former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin as his training partner:

"The doctors from @rejuvstem said I could start working out this week at 30 to 40% of my max. I'm easing back into the gym with @sheltyb803 as my training partner! We finished with some abdominal work. Then, I did 4 rounds on the Airdyne bike! 🤢 I'm going to #gbchampions this afternoon to get on the mats and work on technique! I'm getting bigger, better, stronger!!!" he wrote.

Wrestling veteran reflects on MVP's absence from WWE television

MVP aligned himself with Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander to form The Hurt Business following his return to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. After the group was disbanded, the former United States Champion joined forces with Omos. However, the two have only been making a few sporadic appearances on television for a long time.

Speaking on Keepin' It 100, wrestling veteran Konnan speculated why MVP was not getting featured on WWE television regularly. The 60-year-old stated that the former tag team champion might have said something backstage that did not go well with the management. He further questioned why Omos and his manager have not been on TV despite regular appearances at house shows:

"I wonder if backstage he said something that was on his mind, which I doubt because I would think he'd be smart enough now to understand being given a second chance, and he's doing good. I wonder if he mouthed off or said the wrong thing. But I thought he was great on TV, and it doesn't matter who you put him with. He knows how to get them over. He looks like a professional... Let me tell you, what's weird? I saw him with Omos on house shows. So, they were still using him. I wonder why they weren't using him on TV if they already had them on the road," said Konnan. Stem cell treatment has helped several performers heal from longstanding issues and return to in-ring action. It remains to be seen if MVP will also return to the squared circle in the near future.
