"My mind went to - good for wrestling" - Current champion recalls Roman Reigns bagging huge sponsorships

WWE star Roman Reigns has a great sneaker game and has often shown up to the ring sporting some amazing shoes. His favorites include Air Jordans which he has worn several times during TV appearances.

Reigns has not been on TV since WrestleMania XL. The Tribal Chief lost the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to Cody Rhodes, ending his historic run at the top of WWE.

Cody was Sneaker Shopping with Complex this week when he talked about Roman Reigns getting customized Jordans for their WrestleMania XL encounter. He felt the look was specifically tailored for Roman and it was great for the business that he was getting such sponsorships.

"I knew something big was up. I'd seen this stuff hit social. I thought this looks great. For me, just because I grew up in the wrestling business, my mind just goes, well, it's good for wrestling and not you're gonna be fighting this guy in a couple of hours and screw his shoes. My mind went to - good for wrestling."

Cody also recalled how Nike executives were backstage at WrestleMania and he tried to come across as a major star in hopes of collaborating on another project.

"I also saw the Nike luminary figures were lingering around the backstage. I just tried all I could to make it clear that I was gonna try and be a big star that night. So every time someone was around, I would be like right in front of my poster, something like that going hey, you guys want to make some other shoes, some other set, I'll be all about it. But Roman perfectly, that fits him perfectly. The Bloodline specifically, there's a specific fandom for The Bloodline, that's their world, those shoes." [From 4:19 - 5:12]

Roman Reigns spoke about his love for sneakers

A few years ago, Roman Reigns was also featured on an episode of Sneaker Shopping with Complex. The Tribal Chief spoke about his love for sneakers and how he felt confident wearing them.

Reigns recalled that emotional night back in 2019 when he informed the WWE Universe that his leukemia was in remission and he was cleared to compete again. The star mentioned that he was wearing Jordans that night and it somehow empowered him to be his true self in the ring.
