Mystery over Gunther's whereabouts over avoiding WWE commitment, veteran journalist says they have "no clue" (Exclusive)

As he prepares for a big match at WWE Crown Jewel, Gunther recently revealed that he denied doing media rounds. Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter provided an update on the World Heavyweight Champion's statement.

Cody Rhodes and Gunther faced off in the ring this week on SmackDown and exchanged words before their showdown for the Crown Jewel Championship in Saudi Arabia.

Being a World Champion in WWE comes with a set of responsibilities, and among them is interacting with the press. While Cody Rhodes never shies away from giving interviews, Gunther apparently hasn't talked to the media to promote WrestleMania 41 recently.

Rhodes pointed out Gunther walking away from what is usually seen as a major commitment for the WWE champions. The Ring General retorted by saying, unlike other champs, he had the courage to reject demands from the higher-ups and the media that he deemed unnecessary.

Bill Apter commented on Gunther's stance and seemingly advanced the kayfabe storyline. The veteran pro wrestling journalist admitted there was no sign of Gunther during the media rounds and no explanation was given for his absence.

Apter revealed:

"Regarding Gunther not doing the media rounds, that's secondary, about not doing the media rounds. Of course, the champion or champions should do media rounds and has to do it but we don't really know where Gunther was at during that period of time. We don't know if he was available, if he was doing something else, we have no clue."

Cody Rhodes and Gunther will meet inside the squared circle at Crown Jewel on November 2nd. They might have different approaches as WWE World Champions under the Triple H regime but both megastars would likely be looking to walk out of Saudi Arabia as the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion.
