Natalya shares update amid WWE future uncertainty

Natalya has shared an update on social media today amid uncertainty about her status with WWE. The 42-year-old has not competed in a match since her victory over Izzi Dame on the June 4 edition of NXT.

There have been rumors about Natalya's WWE contract for some time now. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has noted that there has not been an update in regards to Natalya's contract situation. Her contract is rumored to be expiring this summer and she seemingly is not any closer to reaching a new deal with the promotion. The former champion took to Instagram today to share a video of herself training in the ring and you can check it out below.

Natalya has not competed in a match on RAW since June 3, 2024. Kiana James made her main roster debut and defeated the veteran in a quick match.

Former WWE writer reacts to Natalya's loss to Kiana James last month on RAW

Wrestling legend Vince Russo felt like WWE wasted Natalya in her loss to Kiana James last month on the red brand.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Russo praised Natalya for doing the job and losing to Kiana James. However, he suggested that the victory wouldn't do much for James and stated that she would likely disappear from television:

"Here's the problem. If you're gonna use Natalya to get Kiana James over, that's good if you're actually gonna get Kiana James over. But she's not getting over because she's beating Natalya. Mark my words right now, you're not gonna see Kiana James in another three weeks. Meanwhile, Natalya did the job trying to put her over, you're not gonna see her in another three weeks." Natalya joined WWE in 2007 and has had a successful seventeen year run with the company so far. She is a former Divas Champion, SmackDown Women's Champion, and Women's Tag Team Champion alongside Tamina. It will be fascinating to see what the future holds for Natalya and if she will end up re-signing with the promotion in the weeks ahead.
