"Never say never" - Triple H breaks silence after blockbuster WWE appearance; first match in 987 days teased
WWE Bad Blood featured a surprise appearance from World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. The Ring General unexpectedly called out Hall of Famer Goldberg, who was present in the audience.
The World Heavyweight Champion called the legend a 'one-trick pony', prompting the latter to retaliate. Before The Icon could enter the ring, security arrived to avoid chaos. With his insults, Gunther teased a match with the former Universal Champion, who hasn't wrestled since Elimination Chamber 2022.
During the Bad Blood Press Conference, The Game addressed Gunther calling out Goldberg and said the latter had a spark in his eye after the segment. The WWE Chief Content Officer added that Da Man was unhappy to see the Imperium leader, teasing a possible match between the multi-time champions.
"When Bill came back, he was not too happy with Gunther. We will see. You know, the further you go, time catches up with all of us. So the further you go, those talks get further and further away from reality. But I don't know. I saw Bill earlier in the day. And it was great. I saw Bill later in the day, and there was a different look on his face with a spark in his eye. I would say never say never," Triple H said. [24:43 onwards]
In his last WWE match, Da Man unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship on February 19, 2022. The Hall of Famer could return to the ring after 987 days to lock horns with Gunther at Crown Jewel on November 2, 2024.
Gunther is set to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on RAW
After weeks of rejections, The Ring General finally accepted Sami Zayn’s challenge and gave him a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. That said, they are now set to lock horns on the upcoming episode of RAW.
While Gunther has looked confident throughout his reign as World Heavyweight Champion, Sami Zayn has always been an underdog who gets the job done when it comes to big matches.
WrestleMania 40 featured Gunther vs. Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship, where the latter emerged victorious, ending The Ring General's historic reign. With the former Bloodline member seemingly having a rent-free place in the Imperium leader's head, it would be interesting to see how things play out when they square off on the red brand.
