New champion crowned after WWE SmackDown goes off the air (SPOILER)
The latest episode of SmackDown marked the first night of the 2024 WWE Draft, with a few superstars switching brands. However, a lot happened after the show went off the air.
While CM Punk made an appearance and got interrupted, a few matches took place as well. One of them saw the crowning of the first-ever WWE Speed Champion. Ricochet won the belt after defeating Johnny Gargano, who faced Bronson Reed in the semi-final before SmackDown began. This has come from @SettersNick on X/Twitter, who attended the show in Cincinnati, Ohio.
This match will air on X/Twitter in a few weeks, with the latest edition of WWE Speed featuring Ricochet's semi-final win over JD McDonagh. Gargano's match against Reed is set for next week, with the former NXT Champion winning. We will likely see the final one week after that. Meanwhile, a picture of the belt has been making the rounds after Ricochet won it.

It remains to be seen how often The One and Only will have to defend the Speed Championship. Ricochet could realistically have three-minute time-limit matches after every episode of RAW, which continues to be his home after he was picked by the red brand during SmackDown.
