Nia Jax breaks character to share emotional update
WWE Superstar Nia Jax broke character on social media today to share an emotional update. The veteran was in action this past Saturday night at SummerSlam.
The Irresistible Force defeated Bayley to become the new WWE Women's Champion at the premium live event over the weekend. She earned the title shot by winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament earlier this year. Jax took to Instagram today to share a heartfelt update. She shared several photos with Tiffany Stratton, Kane, Jelly Roll, and more stars as seen in the post below.
"My people 🫶🏽," she wrote.
Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton are friends in real life and both stars are currently on the SmackDown roster. Stratton won the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match last month and can cash in for a title shot whenever she chooses.
The 25-year-old almost cashed in during the match between Bayley and Jax at SummerSlam. However, The Role Model knocked Stratton off the apron before she could officially cash in. Jax later pinned the former Damage CTRL leader to become champion.
Triple H congratulates Nia Jax following her victory at WWE SummerSlam
Chief Content Officer Triple H congratulated Nia Jax after she captured the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam.
Jax was released by the promotion in November 2021 but returned last September. She battled Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship in the main event of Elimination Chamber earlier this year but came up short.
However, she would not be denied at SummerSlam and The Game sent her a message following the victory. The King of Kings praised Jax and noted that it has been incredible to witness her ascent in the company.
"There are a lot of reasons why this one hits differently. It’s been incredible to witness Nia Jax’s ascent into Queen of the Ring and now, at her first #SummerSlam ever, your NEW @WWE Women’s Champion. Congratulations, Nia," he wrote.
Jax has been dominant since her return to the promotion last year. It will be interesting to see how long she can hold onto the title moving forward on SmackDown.
