Nia Jax claims she avoided major injury on WWE SmackDown
Nia Jax claimed she avoided a major injury on WWE SmackDown by taking to social media today. The veteran defended her title in the main event of this past Friday's edition of the blue brand.
The Irresistible Force defeated Naomi to retain the WWE Women's Championship this past Friday night on the blue brand. Naomi took to her X (fka Twitter) account earlier today to share an image of herself hitting the champion with the Rear View on SmackDown. Jax reacted to the post and claimed she was thankful that the move didn't break her nose. It appears that the champion might have avoided a major injury.
"Thank goodness it didn’t break my beautiful nose," she wrote.
Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae helped Jax defeat Naomi in the main event of the latest edition of SmackDown. Bayley also interfered in the match in an attempt to help her friend, but it was not enough to sway the outcome.
Former WWE manager reacts to Nia Jax's booking on SmackDown
Wrestling legend Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on how Nia Jax was being utilized on SmackDown.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk show, Mantell stated that Jax was a behemoth and should be booked like one on SmackDown. The veteran noted that the 40-year-old did not need to be doing "silly spots" that the rest of the roster does, and the company should be focusing on presenting her as a monster in the women's division.
"I think Nia Jax, it's too late now, but Imma tell her, 'I don't need you flying all over the place and doing all these silly spots that the girls that weigh 140 pounds are doing.' [...] She doesn't need to be doing the same stuff the rest of them are doing. She's a monster, so present her as a monster. I think that's what WWE creative have kinda forgotten," he said. Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax to become the inaugural Women's Crown Jewel Champion at the premium live event earlier this month in Saudi Arabia. Nia Jax is currently in an alliance with Tiffany Stratton on SmackDown, but The Buff Barbie holds the Women's Money in the Bank contract and can cash in for a title match at any moment.
It will be interesting to see how long Jax can hold onto the WWE Women's Championship moving forward.
