Nick Aldis addresses what's happening after AJ Styles' injury; announces two special championship matches for SmackDown after Bad Blood
Nick Aldis took to social media earlier today to announce what was going to happen after AJ Styles was injured last week. He also announced two major title matches for the first SmackDown after Bad Blood.
Last week on the Friday Night Show, AJ Styles faced Carmelo Hayes in an impromptu match after the latter interrupted him. Unfortunately, during the match, the star landed badly and hurt his left leg. It was not clear how bad the injury was until Styles collapsed later in the match when trying to hit his opponent with the Argentine Backbreaker. With the ending being what it was, it meant that the star was unable to continue the bout, and the referee stopped proceedings.
Since then, it's been confirmed that The Phenomenal One needed to get an MRI of the leg, but there have been no updates other than that it was a legitimate injury and not part of a storyline.
Now, Nick Aldis has spoken about the ending to the AJ Styles match. He said that there was a controversial ending last week, but this week, Hayes would be getting his shot at the United States title.
"LA Knight will be defending the United States title against Carmelo Hayes. Controversial ending last week with Carmelo and AJ Styles, but the show must go on, and Carmelo gets his shot." (00:42 - 00:52)
He also announced that Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson would be facing Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill in a specially agreed-upon inter-promotional match.
"Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson have stepped up to the plate, and they are taking on Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. That is an inter-promotional match that has been agreed upon by myself and Ava. We can't wait to bring it to you tomorrow night." (00:30 - 00:42)
AJ Styles' return to SmackDown may take some time, but Nick Aldis is preparing for what's next
Styles returned to SmackDown last week after months away from action but immediately injured his leg.
The exact nature of the injury is not confirmed yet, and thus, an effective timeline for his return may not be predicted. However, the star will be working on his comeback, and as per reports, his return is likely to be stronger than ever.
Fans will have to wait for the star to recover from his injury for the time being, but Nick Aldis has already spoken about what will happen next on SmackDown.
