Nick Aldis reveals he has two WWE contracts
Nick Aldis continues to serve as WWE SmackDown's general manager. He joined World Wrestling Entertainment in this on-screen role on the season premiere in October 2023. Aldis was introduced by WWE CCO Triple H on-screen, which was followed by him immediately sparking intrigue among fans as he proved that he belonged while trading barbs with Dominik Mysterio in the said segment.
Many professional wrestling fanatics who have followed Aldis's work in the independent circuit and TNA hope to see him in the ring again as a wrestler. While it remains up in the air as of this writing, the sheriff of SmackDown revealed that he currently has two contracts with the Stamford-based promotion.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Nick Aldis noted that his talent contract allows him to perform on-screen. However, he also has an employee contract, which gives him the producer designation. He began working as a producer in August 2023. This was a tryout before being hired full-time:
"Now I have two; producer and a talent. I have two contracts. An employee contract as a producer and a talent contract for the General Manager role." [From 4:42 onwards]
As he recounted, Aldis was asked to assume the role of SmackDown general manager sometime after summer 2023, when John Cena returned for a brief run on the blue brand. Bruce Prichard approached him with the character, and he was game straight off the bat.
Nick Aldis has reinstated Kevin Owens on WWE SmackDown
Nick Aldis was forced to pull Kevin Owens from the show after the former Universal Champion used the Piledriver—a banned move—on Randy Orton. However, the sheriff's authority was challenged by Cody Rhodes, which led to him backtracking his decision.
This past Friday, Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis worked together in the opening segment. The American Nightmare demanded that Aldis reinstate Kevin Owens, otherwise, he will take matters into his own hands. The Prizefighter will be back on the blue brand next week.
